What's old is the neighborhood — a quiet pocket of San Jose's Little Portugal / Five Wounds area that's three minutes from a bus to downtown and twelve minutes from SJC airport.
This is Unit B, the smaller of two homes on the property — a self-contained junior ADU at the rear: a queen bedroom, an updated bathroom with a marble-tile walk-in shower, and an open kitchen-living-dining nook. Best for one to two travelers; sleeps three with a queen + a single rollaway. Private rear entrance with smart lock and Ring doorbell.

Most short-term rentals hand you a door code and disappear. We treat hosting like a clinic — there's a tier of care that scales with how long you stay:
- Stays of 1-6 nights get the Tier 1 baseline: keyless entry with Ring doorbell, gigabit fiber Wi-Fi (real fiber, not "up to" cable), Level 2 EV charging in the driveway (J1772 adapter, free for all stays, shared first-come), an e-scooter in the backyard, a printed local guide we update quarterly, and same-day text reply from us during waking hours.
- Stays of 7-29 nights unlock Tier 2: reservation help at Pesticos and Adega (based on availability), Yosemite gate-keeping advice (which entrance, which day, which permit window — we've made every mistake so you don't have to), curated hike recommendations matched to your fitness level, in-unit grocery and Amazon delivery handling, mid-stay linen refresh, and produce drops from the garden when things are in season.
- Stays of 30+ nights get the Tier 3 full bundle: weekly cleaning, a dedicated welcome call with Enoch on day one, monthly mail-and-package handling, custom day-trip planning (Big Sur, Napa, Pacifica, Mt. Hamilton — we've test-driven all of them), introductions to our personal trainer, dentist, and barber if you need them, and the kind of low-friction extension flexibility you can only get from owner-operators.

Rates & Availability
Cancellation Policy: One hundred percent (100.00%) of the total booking charges will be refunded if the cancellation is made more than 30 days prior to the arrival date of the reservation. Fifty percent (50.00%) of the total booking charges will be refunded if the cancellation is made more than 14 days prior to the arrival date of the reservation. For cancellations made within 14 days prior to the arrival date, no refund will be issued.
Our pricing is dynamic — we adjust based on demand patterns we see across San Jose lodging. A few things to know: Seasonal range: $130/night low season (Jan-Feb) to $150/night high season (Jun-Aug peak). Rates may go higher for major events (tech conferences, holidays). Long-stay discounts: stays of 7+ nights get our Tier 2 service tier automatically (reservation help, in-unit deliveries, mid-stay refresh). Stays of 30+ nights get Tier 3 + a weekly-cleaning credit baked into the nightly rate. Cleaning fee: flat $100 per stay regardless of length. Covers a professional turnover with linen change, deep clean, and re-staging for the next guest. Pet fee: $150 flat per stay. One well-behaved cat or small dog under 30 lbs by message before booking. Direct booking discount: book on our direct site to skip channel commissions. We can pass some of those savings to you on stays of 7+ nights. Cancellation: free up to 30 days before check-in. 50% refund 14 days out. No refund inside 14 days. Long stays (30+ nights) have a 30-day notice for full refund. Returning guest discount: automatic 10% off your second and subsequent stays.

Hi — I'm Enoch. I'm a physician at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC). After 3 decades in emergency medicine and urgent care, I learned what it feels like to land somewhere new on a clinical assignment with no time to figure out the city — which is exactly the experience I built 1362 Shortridge to assuage. I run the operations side of my small property portfolio. I'm the one who responds to your text within minutes during the day, coordinates the cleaning team between guests, and handles the mid-stay linen refresh on day 30 of long stays. I'm not a property-management company. I don't have a call center. The phone number you get at booking goes directly to my cell, and the welcome video call on day one of long stays is with me. I own nine short-term-rentals in the Bay Area, with 1362 Shortridge as my flagship: it's the property I've invested the most in, and the one I host with the highest level of personal attention.
